Resolutions And The New Year

Resolutions And The New Year

According to our method of counting time, this week is the beginning of the new year. This is a time of "taking stock" or doing inventory of our lives. It's a time of reflection but also a time of new beginnings and planning. Our latest podcast is a sermon we should all listen to at least a few times before making resolutions!

Foolishness And The World

Wisdom comes from God but of course people who refuse to believe in God think it's foolishness. It's sad when an individual doesn't recognize the importance of believing in God. This sermon by Thaxter Dickey gives us examples and explanations.

God's Involvement In Government

God's Involvement In Government

Our country in which we live and our government is understandably very important to each of us. The questions usually in the forefront of our minds during these times of elections are whether or not God controls or even has any involvement in the outcome of the elections. Thaxter Dickey uses God's word to answer this very question and in addition to answering this important question, he also explains from God's word our obligations to the governing leaders.

Baptism Now Saves

Baptism Now Saves

I'm convinced that one of the most widely spread falsehoods in the religious world today is the misleading teaching that the act of baptism is not a command and is not important but rather only optional.

This sermon by Thaxter Dickey clearly demonstrates with scripture the importance and necessity of baptism. If this is a subject that has caused you to have questions, listen with an open mind and use this as an opportunity to learn the truth.

Seeing The Unseen Things

Seeing The Unseen Things

If you're living in this world and believe the only things that exist are the things you can see with your eyes, you're selling yourself short and selling God short. Jesus expressed that while you can't see the Spirit - you can see the results of the Spirit and He compared that with the wind. You can't see the wind but you can certainly see the results of the wind!

Listen to this excellent sermon by Gary Wilemon as he discusses from God's word the unseen things and gives us examples of those individuals who could see the unseen!

We all have lived through storms and it can be very scary even while we're in our homes. Can you imagine how disturbing it is when you're out on the water? The power of nature is breathtaking! Our Unsparing God

Our Unsparing God

When we consider the things our God has done, it becomes clear that we're very important to Him. It also becomes clear that He will go to great lengths to demand justice when we exercise our right of choice to reject His love.

With this week's podcast, Thaxter Dickey uses biblical passages to remind us that God has spared nothing to complete His mission to save us from eternal punishment.

With that said, we're also reminded that God will spare no person that rejects His love and His Son - thus the title, Our Unsparing God!

Was Your Preacher Mistaken?

Was Your Preacher Mistaken?

Not always, but usually when a preacher tells you something, he really means well. We would probably agree, however, that even the preacher can make mistakes. Do you "bite hook, line and sinker" everything the preacher says? - or do you double check and study for yourself as well?

With this lesson, Gary Wilemon reminds us to study and only accept, as the Gospel truth, the things we can read and understand from the bible itself.

Are You A Good Father?

Are You A Good Father?

What are God's expectations of fathers? Something I'm sure we would agree on is it doesn't have to be Father's Day for us to have a discussion about  the importance of being a good father. This sermon by Gary Wilemon helps us to see the mistakes of others in their roles as fathers and to learn from those mistakes.

Listen to the audio or watch the video that contains the presentation slides and see how you or your father measures up to God's expectations and even if you're doing well, we can always make the commitment to do even better.

Understanding Spiritual Resurrection - Part One

The word Death is so final that we don't even like thinking about it but the word resurrection gives up hope. Our hope, however, is not that someone would stop our funeral procession and bring us back to this life - rather our hope is to be raised never to die again.

Our hope is possible not with just a physical resurrection but with also a spiritual resurrection. Thaxter Dickey, with this podcast, goes into detail as he explains our spiritual resurrection.
